The SCLC Dream Foundation is the non-profit 501(c)(3), social service arm of the SCLC of Greater Los Angeles. The Dream Foundation focuses on funding and providing programs that empower the residents and families of South Central Los Angeles. The Dream Foundation draws its principles from those of Dr. King - principles that further those efforts envisioned by the civil rights movement in the areas of health care, economic development, education, youth development, and the reduction of violence in society.

ROSA PARKS CENTER (download brochure)
The Rosa Parks Center is a rape crisis center in South Central Los Angeles with a special emphasis on sexual assault crisis counseling and domestic violence services for women and men. The services offered are a catalyst for the empowerment of women and men engaged in the struggle against sexual violence. These services include on-going crisis intervention counseling, accompaniment and advocacy support at hospital and courts, prevention education service and support groups. Trained, licensed counselors handle the one-on-one counseling. This program has served over 30,000 survivors of assault and their families within the community since 1984.

HATE CRIMES PREVENTION (download brochure)
The SCLC/LA Hate Crime Assistance Project empowers community members by educating them on how to identify hate crimes, informing them of the need to report hate crimes, providing counseling, dispute resolution services, resources and referral in order to regain a normal life when effected by a hate crime.

The Hate Crime Assistance Project is an integral component of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Los Angeles (SCLC/LA). In fact, the SCLC/LA Hate Crime Assistance Project is core to the very purpose for which the SCLC had come into existence.

MLK RESOLUTION (download brochure)
Based on the nonviolence philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., MLKDRC was established to provide the community with an alternative process of resolving disputes other than through courts, which is time consuming and costly. MLKDRC mediates disputes between landlord and tenant, merchants and consumers and neighbor~ to~ neighbor. In addition to this walk-in-service, the MLKDRC also trains community members in conflict resolution and provides training and services in local middle schools and high schools, corporations and mediates court-referred cases. MLKDRC also works in collaboration with the Korean American Coalition on the 4.29 Center (named after April 29 th Los Angeles Uprising), which directly mediates disputes between Korean merchants and African American consumers. Finally, the Center is a partner in the LDIR-Leadership Development in Interethnic Relations), program, which empowers individuals with skills and knowledge to enable them to prioritize human issues. This program mediated 300 cases last year.

The Martin Luther King Dispute Resolution Center offers a variety of training programs to bring the benefits of nonviolent management of conflict to workplaces, families, neighborhoods, and institutions of all kinds. Our meditation in training programs help people deal well with stressful, and even dangerous conflicts, and equip people to turn differences and disagreements and sources of growth.

BEYOND THE BELL
Beyond the Bell is a program sponsored by the Los Angeles Unified School District.  This program was designed to assist community with childcare, safe places for children and youth during critical out-of -school hours, expanded learning, enrichment and recreational opportunities.  Beyond the Bell believes that that each child should have a safe place to learn and play, in a positive environment that supports achievement and promotes social, emotional and physical development beyond the regular school day. This program services 300 families.

Apprenticeship Preparation Training

The Apprenticeship Preparation Training will train applicants to poses the practical and theoretical skills to secure a high income career. The Apprenticeship Preparation program provides skill training in basic math and algebra for apprenticeship trades, as well as submitting successful jobs applications, resume and basic letters of application; this training will prepare students to pass the final examination with 80% accuracy, explore career paths that lead to employment with Trade Unions, City and State Agencies, while securing careers paying 2-7 times more than minimum wage ($15.00 - $42.00) per hour.
